Babymoon

Have you heard the term "babymoon?" I think it's a relatively new term to describe a trip you take before the baby comes. I know that some people head out to luxurious tropical location, but we are sticking a little closer to home. We are wanting to save our vacation time and just go away for a weekend, so we were looking for a place within 3 hours of New York City, a bit warmer than home and affordable. Just to further complicate things - we don't have a car. We landed on Baltimore. It's not exotic, but it is a change of scenery, and I have never stayed there before.

Here is my question: Do you have any suggestions for restaurants in Baltimore? We will probably hit at least one crab place for my husband, but I'm allergic to shellfish, so other suggestions would be great. Breakfast places? Local food?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I have never been to Baltimore, but always thought it would be fun to visit. Such a bummer about the shellfish allergy!

My daughter's husband and his brother just got back from what they are jokingly referring to a their babymoon. My daughter and her husband had booked this fun snowboarding trip in the mountains, but then they got a little surperise, so snowboarding and skiing is out for her! Rather than waste the tickets, the brother went in her place and she stayed home!

I don't have any suggestions sorry. I have never been up that way. I do know they have amazing seafood and wish I could join you... well that would defeat the whole idea of alone time. OK then.

Congratulations on the coming baby. I will be a first time Grandma Oct 5th My son is bringing ultra sound pic over tomorrow!!

Have an awesome Vacation!

Wish I could but we have never been to Baltimore either. You might want to look at Rachel Ray's videos on FoodNetwork on $40 a day. She went to quite a few places and showed some great restaurants. Have a fun trip.

I haven't been to Baltimore in a long, long time, and I never spent much time there, so I am no help. But do have a terrific time!

Hi! I love the term Babymoon...so fun. We visited Baltimore last year and ate at McCormick and Schmidts for lunch. It is right on the Inner Harbor. There is a Hard Rock there too that my daughter really liked. It is just a neat little area to walk around etc...
Enjoy!!!

What a cute idea ... a Babymoon! It's been years since I've been to Baltimore, but the Harbor was filled with restaurants, so I'm sure you'll find great ones. I'm so pleased that you visited my site ... and I'm going to follow you. I'm especially interested in how your CSA works ... and your recipes look fantstic. I'm sure I'll be learning lots of things from you. Thanks for sharing.

I've never heard of a babymoon and never been to Baltimore so I'm pretty much useless in commenting here.

However, I do want to see what a fun idea that is. I wonder if some of the TV shows like "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" or Rachel Ray has highlighted restaurants there. It might be fun to check that out.

Thanks for linking this week.

It's always fun to see what you're up to.

A+

Flew into Baltimore last November, headed to Delaware and stopped at a crab shack kinda place for dinner. Have no idea what it was called but they had the best crab cakes ever! I'm sure almost anywhere there will have them. Good luck...
